We’re offering an exciting PhD position (f/m/x) in protein homeostasis (proteostasis) at the Institute for Plant Sciences, located at the Cologne Biocenter. The project will be led by Dr. Ernesto Llamas in collaboration with Professor Alga Zuccaro (CEPLAS) and Professor David Vilchez (CECAD). This research focuses on understanding how plants manage human toxic proteins prone to aggregation, with potential implications for treating neurodegenerative diseases.
Tasks:
Investigate how plants handle human toxic proteins prone to aggregation.
Utilize synthetic biology and directed evolution to enhance protein activity.
Study neurodegenerative disorders using various research models, including polyQ diseases and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
Contribute to patent development and potential start-up initiatives.
Author and publish scientific articles.
