Deakin University offers HDR Scholarships, combining the Research Training Program Scholarship (RTP) funded by the Australian Government and Deakin University Postgraduate Research Scholarship (DUPR). These scholarships are available for research master’s or doctoral degree programs.
Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for Deakin University Postgraduate Research Scholarship, applicants are expected to meet the following conditions:
- Must be a domestic or international student enrolled in an HDR course of study at Deakin University
- Must not be receiving an equivalent award or scholarship from the Commonwealth designed to offset HDR fees
- Must not be receiving income from another source to support that student’s general living costs while undertaking their course of study if that income is greater than 75 per cent of that student’s RTP or DUPRS Stipend rate.
Applicants must be enrolled in an HDR course at Deakin University. They should not receive an equivalent award or scholarship designed to offset HDR fees from the Commonwealth. Additional income should not exceed 75% of the RTP or DUPRS Stipend rate.
Scholarship Benefits:
- Stipend: $33,500 p.a. (tax exempt)
- Relocation allowance: $500 to $1,500
- Single Overseas Student Health Cover policy for international students.
Funding Duration:
- Doctoral Degree: 3 years (stipend), 4 years (tuition fees offset)
- Research Master Degree: 2 years (stipend), 2 years (tuition fees offset)

Prospective students must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) before applying. The Faculty or Institute will guide you on further steps through the Applicant Portal.
