PhD Assistantship in Ecology – The Merkle Research Group, in partnership with the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, is seeking a driven and analytically minded Ph.D. student to lead a project focused on exploratory movement behavior. This opportunity involves admission into the Program in Ecology and Evolution at the University of Wyoming, based in Laramie, USA.
The selected student will play a pivotal role in defining specific research inquiries within the broader realm of exploratory movement behavior in ecology. The research will delve into understanding the where, when, and why behind animals engaging in novel spatial behaviors, and evaluating the associated costs and benefits, such as adaptation to habitat disturbance.
Eligibility:
- Candidates should hold a B.S. degree, and preferably an M.S. degree, in Ecology, Wildlife, Computing, Biological Statistics, or a related field.
- Preference will be given to applicants with experience in managing and analyzing extensive spatial datasets
Successful candidates will be expected to :
- participate in a collaborative team setting, contribute to high-quality research in conjunction with wildlife managers, present findings at professional conferences. This opportunity may be particularly suitable for individuals with less flexible schedules, as it does not include a fieldwork component.
Funding:
A graduate assistantship is provided, covering tuition, benefits, and an annual stipend of $26,400.
