Uppsala University Doctoral Degree Research Positions —Explore the frontier of atmospheric flow physics and turbulence for wind energy applications through a Doctoral Degree Research Position at Uppsala University. This position is part of the AptWind project, a collaborative initiative funded by Horizon Europe, providing training for a new generation adept at addressing challenges in wind energy research.
Research Focus:
The project centers on advancing modeling capabilities for large wind turbines and farms, with a focus on fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, and meteorological phenomena. Investigate the impact of atmospheric layers on very large rotors and wind farms, emphasizing the interaction within and between these expansive wind power installations.
Qualifications:
To be eligible for doctoral studies, candidates must:
- Hold a Master’s (second-cycle) degree in meteorology, physics, or engineering, or
- Have completed at least 240 credits in higher education, with a minimum of 60 credits at Master’s level, including an independent project of at least 15 credits, or
- Possess substantially equivalent knowledge acquired through other means.
- Candidates should have expertise in fluid dynamics, turbulence, numerics, and experience with advanced CFD tools. Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages is essential.
How to Apply:
Submit an application including a letter describing your qualifications, CV, copies of diplomas and certificates, thesis, and publications. Provide details of referees and attach one or more letters of recommendation. Applicants acknowledge that Uppsala University and the AptWind consortium will evaluate the applications.
