Project Focus:
- Anaerobic oxidation of volatile alkanes (ethane, propane, butane) by deep-sea Archaea
- Impact on carbon and energy budgets of deep-sea sediments
- Biochemical mechanisms of alkane functionalization and downstream processing
- Identification of genes and enzymes involved in the process
Eligibility:
- Master’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or equivalent
- Strong background in one of the following:
Microbiology
Molecular Biology
Biochemistry
Microbial Ecology
Biogeochemistry
- Other relevant research areas
- Excellent collaborative skills
- Strong potential for high-level international publications
- Excellent English language skills (written and spoken)
- Willingness to join an interdisciplinary team
