The University of Bath invites applications for its Doctoral Degree in Mathematical Science. This program, facilitated by SAMBa, supports multidisciplinary mathematical PhD research, often in collaboration with external partners. Researchers engage in a four-year integrated program exploring mathematical modeling inspired by real-world phenomena, encompassing areas such as machine learning, uncertainty quantification, optimization, high-dimensional statistics, and numerical stochastic modeling.
Requirements:
Successful applicants typically possess:
- A first or upper second-class honors degree or equivalent in mathematics or a related field with substantial mathematical content.
- Research or professional experience (e.g., Master’s project, a degree with placement year, work experience in a graduate role).
- While not mandatory, most applicants will have completed a master’s-level qualification in a mathematical subject. Contact the SAMBa team at samba@bath.ac.uk for eligibility inquiries.
Application:
To expedite the application process and determine interview likelihood, send an expression of interest to the Centre Coordinator, Lou Adkin, via samba@bath.ac.uk. Your expression of interest should include:
- A short statement (250 words) explaining your motivation for applying to SAMBa.
- A 2-page CV detailing academic and work experience, nationality, and country of residence (past three years, excluding full-time education).
- Scans of your academic transcript(s).
- Indication of interest in any industry co-designed projects outlined on the Programme page.
- Information on where you learned about SAMBa.
Embark on a transformative journey in mathematical sciences with SAMBa at the University of Bath. Express your interest by January 15, 2024, and become part of an inclusive and collaborative research community.
