Wageningen University invites applications for a full-time PhD position (4 years) in Agricultural Economics. The research will focus on developing measures of energy efficiency and productivity to contribute to the energy extensification of European agriculture. This position is part of the Horizon Europe project, “AnalysinG of fossil-ENergy dependence in agriculture to increase RESilience against input price fluctuations.” The prospective PhD candidate will collaborate with a team of agricultural economists at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Uppsala and INRAE in Paris.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate is expected to:
- Hold an MSc degree in economics, agricultural economics, environmental economics, business economics, or a related field.
- Have an interest in developing new methods to analyze the role of energy and energy-intensive inputs in European agricultural production.
- Possess a solid foundation in quantitative empirical analysis, including econometrics and mathematical programming, with practical experience in this area (e.g., within the master’s thesis).
- Have excellent English language skills at the C1 level, both in writing and speaking. An internationally recognized Certificate of Proficiency in the English Language may be requested.
