The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP) is now open for applications, providing a unique opportunity for women and men from developing countries to pursue master’s degree programs in development-related fields. This scholarship, offered by the Japan Government and the World Bank, supports individuals with a track record of contributing to their countries’ development efforts.
Host Institutions/Programs: JJWBGSP covers 52 Participating Programs at universities in the U.S., Europe, Africa, Oceania, and Japan.
Target Group: Developing country nationals of World Bank Member Countries
Scholarship Value/Duration:
- Tuition coverage
- Monthly living stipend
- Round-trip airfare
- Health insurance
- Travel allowance
- Duration: Covers the entire graduate program or two years, whichever is less.
Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be a national of a World Bank member country.
- Not hold dual citizenship of any developed country.
- Not be an Executive Director, staff, or close relative of World Bank Group staff.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years of recent development-related work experience.
- Be employed full-time in development-related work.
- Be unconditionally admitted to at least one JJ/WBGSP participating master’s program outside their country of citizenship and residence.
Application Windows:
- Window #1: 15 January 2024 to 29 February 2024
- Window #2: 25 March 2024 to 24 May 2024
Application Process:
- Apply and get unconditional acceptance to a Participating Program.
- Upload the unconditional letter of acceptance during the scholarship application.
- Apply during the relevant application window online.
