The School of Physics at Trinity College Dublin is seeking applications for a fully funded 4-year Ph.D. position. This position aims to explore novel nanomeshes, investigate their electronic structure, and examine their application as sensors. The successful candidate will work on a collaborative project led by Prof. Cormac McGuinness. The program commences on March 1, 2024, with an annual funding of €25,000 provided through a TCD Postgraduate Scholarship.

Qualifications:
- Strong background in physics, nanoscience, or physical chemistry.
- Demonstrated interest and self-motivation in the subject.
- Analytical and creative thinking ability.
- Ownership and commitment to the research project.
- Enquiring and rigorous approach to research with good team-working, observational, and communication skills.
- Previous research experience in interdisciplinary environments, functional materials, x-ray spectroscopy, or sensor research is desirable.
- Training will be provided as necessary.
Eligibility:
- Open to candidates worldwide (Irish, EU, UK, and non-EU).
Anticipated start date: March 1, 2024.

Academic qualification: Second Class Honours Grade I (II.1) or higher Bachelors or a relevant Masters degree.
