PhD Position in Hydrology – Do you have a strong foundation in modeling and problem-solving? The Department of Environmental and Sustainable Engineering at the University at Albany-SUNY is seeking a motivated PhD student to join a research project focused on hydrologic and water quality modeling. This funded position is supported by the USDA-NIFA and offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to advancements in water resource management.
Project Description:
- Develop and apply hydrologic/water quality models for sustainable water resource management.
- Design and implement an optimization-based decision support system (DSS) to improve water resource sustainability.
- Focus on agricultural best management practices (BMPs) at field and watershed scales.
Qualifications:
- BS or MS degree in agricultural engineering, environmental engineering, or a closely related field.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Highly self-motivated and independent with a strong work ethic.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with hydrologic/water quality modeling using SWAT (Soil and Water Assessment Tool).
- Proficiency in programming languagessuch as Python, Matlab, C++, or FORTRAN.
- Familiarity with ArcGIS software.
