Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) Details
In 2024, the Korean Government’s Global Korea Scholarship program aims to attract international students interested in pursuing undergraduate degrees in Korea.
Applicants must apply either through a Korean Embassy in their home country (embassy track) or directly to designated universities in Korea (university track). Please contact the relevant selection organization (embassy or university) for detailed information on application submission, including deadlines, required documents, interviews, etc. Application deadlines may vary depending on the embassy or university conducting the initial selection.
Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) Requirements
To be eligible for the Korean Government Scholarship:
- Citizenship: Candidates and their parents must hold non-Korean citizenship.
- Age:
– KGSP-G: under 40
– KGSP-U: under 25
- Health: Candidates must be physically and mentally fit for studies in Korea.
- Degree Requirements:
– KGSP-G: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
– KGSP-U: High school diploma
- Grades: Cumulative grade point average (CGPA) must be 80% or higher; or equivalent to 2.64/4.0, 2.80/4.3, 2.91/4.5, or 3.23/5.0 or higher.

Selection:
- Applicants submit their applications to Korean Embassies or partnering universities in Korea. Successful candidates are selected in the first round of selection.
- The NIIED selection committee then selects successful candidates from those who passed the first round.
- Among the successful candidates from the second round, those who applied through Korean Embassies have their applications reviewed by universities for admission. Successful candidates must receive admission from at least one university.
