The class of 2024 from Greensprings School’s International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma programme has once again demonstrated its excellence by earning over $8.5 million in scholarships to prestigious universities worldwide.
Remarkable Achievements
Among the standout students is Emmanuela Ilok, who received full scholarships to study Computer Science at several Ivy League institutions. Some of these institutions include Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Yale University, Columbia University, and Stanford University. Reflecting on her achievement, Ilok shared her excitement, saying, “It all seems unreal. I am very excited and grateful to God, my parents, and my school.”
Ilok, who has been with Greensprings School for 15 years, credits the institution for providing the support, motivation, and resources necessary for her success. She emphasized that the IB Diploma programme has a rigorous curriculum. This curriculum played a crucial role in shaping her academic journey, ultimately leading to her impressive accomplishments.
Greensprings IB Diploma Institutional Support and Success
Mrs. Feyisara Ojugo, the School’s Deputy Director of Education, expressed her pride in the students’ achievements. “I am extremely proud of the performance of our IB Diploma students. Their acceptance into top universities globally on scholarship is a testimony to their hard work and the support that our school provides to ensure that their dreams come true,” she said.
Ojugo particularly commended Emmanuela Ilok, highlighting her full scholarships to Ivy League universities with notoriously low acceptance rates. “Emmanuela has journeyed with us from pre-school, through elementary and secondary, and now the IB Diploma programme. She has been a high achiever, and as a school, we have ensured that we provide the adequate support and environment she needs to attain her full potential. Seeing her succeed this way makes us proud of her.”
Over the years, Greensprings School has consistently reported similar success stories among its IB Diploma students. Their various cohorts receive scholarships worth millions of dollars to pursue their chosen courses at top-tier institutions. Ojugo attributes this high level of success to the robustness of the IB Diploma programme. This Programme does not only makes students preferred candidates for elite universities but also thoroughly prepares them for university life.
The Greensprings IB Diploma programme is a two-year sixth-form curriculum designed to prepare secondary school students for tertiary education. Admission into the programme requires a minimum of five credits in O’ Levels (GCSEs, IGCSEs, or WASSCE), including English and Mathematics.
